Disney cruise lines are officially called Disney Cruise Line®. Disney Cruise Line is owned by The Walt Disney Company. Disney Cruise Line Ships
Disney cruise ships in active service are listed below. The first cruise ship, Disney Magic, entered service for Disney Cruise Line on July 30, 1998. Disney Magic was followed soon after by Disney Wonder on August 15, 1999. Disney Magic and Disney Wonder ship designs are identical, and both cruise ships were built at the Finacantieri Shipyards in Italy. Home port is Port Canaveral, Florida. On February 22, 2007 Disney Cruise Lines announced that two new cruise ships will be added to the fleet, scheduled for service in 2011 and 2012.

Disney Cruise Line operates as a subsidiary under The Walt Disney Company. On May 3, 1994 The Walt Disney Company announced its plans to start the Disney Cruise Line venture. The Castaway Cay ground breaking took place in May of 1996, prior to the maiden voyage of Disney Magic in February of 1997. Disney Magic left Venice, Italy on July 1, 1998 and arrived at Port Canaveral, Florida, for the first time on July 15, 1998. Disney Wonder departed from Venice, Italy on July 14, 1999, and arrived at Port Canaveral, Florida for the first time on August 2, 1999.
